Extreme heat this past week across much of the country had cattle producers keeping a close eye on their animals. Pete Bakken had steers ready to be loaded out at his feedlot near Beaver Creek, in southwest Minnesota. “Dipping their nose up to about their eyeballs does a lot of good for keeping them cool and just water, water, water consumption.” Using a sprinkler can increase humidity in some cases, but Bakken said they have started them up this past week.
