Soybean Cyst Nematode is continuing to move north and west. Peterson Farms Seed lead agronomist Rick Swenson says this is the worst year he’s ever seen for SCN. “As it makes its march up the (Red River) Valley and across North Dakota, we need to make sure we’re testing more than anything,” said Swenson. “That’s the biggest thing; if we’re doing a fertilizer test, I’d love to be doing a cyst test at the same time just to see what’s out there. Get a baseline.” Regarding corn, Swenson said the crop has benefited from the extra GDU’s this summer. “I think some of the corn is going to be ready before the soybeans.”
