Colombian President Gustavo Petro wants to renegotiate its free trade agreement with the United States. Petro said he needs to protect his farmers from the influx of lower-priced U.S. imports. The U.S.-Colombian Trade Promotion Agreement has been in place for more than ten years. U.S. exports to Colombia have risen 47 percent since the trade deal was enacted in 2011.
