During the International Sweetner Symposium in California, American Sugar Alliance Director of Economics and Policy Analysis Rob Johansson had a simple message. “We’re good for the economy and we’re good for American consumers,” said Johansson. “The sugar program is designed to operate at zero costs to the taxpayer.” Florida Representative Kat Carmack spoke at the symposium. In her words, the debate over the farm bill will be the ‘biggest political dog fight in modern history.’ Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar participated in the event with an online feed and said the Senate will likely take the lead in the farm bill debate.
