The extreme heat in June hurt the early-planted spring wheat, but Ken Schmidt is generally pleased with his crops. The Solen, North Dakota area has also been a hot spot for grasshoppers. “Some of these fields we’ve sprayed three times and we still got some of the fields where there’s 200-300 yards on the margins that are where they ate in; it seems like that’s kind of relaxed a little bit now.”
