Montana Wheat and Barley Committee Executive Director Kent Kupfner says combines and swathers are rolling. “I think so far things are going pretty well, certainly better than the last two years of difficult growing conditions.” After a few years of drought, there may be some quality concerns. “There are some in the industry concerned that instead of upper 11, 12 and 13 percent protein winter wheat, that we’re going to be in the tens and low elevens. If that’s the case, it could cause some issues.”
