The European Union’s version of the Green New Deal survived a key vote in the European Parliament sending it back to committee. The measure would require member states to develop a recovery strategy for 20 percent of EU land and sea with a restoration deadline of 2050. Opponents to the bill include the conservative European People’s Party and trade groups representing agriculture and fisheries.
