Farmers who faced discrimination through USDA loan programs can now apply for financial assistance. A total of $2.2 billion in funds are available in the Discrimination Financial Assistance Program, which was funded by last year’s Inflation Reduction Act. The Biden Administration created a loan forgiveness program for minority farmers in 2021, but it was rejected in the courts due to ‘reverse-discrimination.’ For the new assistance program, farmers and ranchers will outline their discrimination experience. Applications must be made by the end of October.
