Red River Valley Sugarbeet Growers Association President Neil Rockstad says the sugarbeet crop is advancing well considering it had a slightly later start. “Everybody was concerned this spring, especially with how wet and cold it was. Then last week the Red River Valley received a general rain, more than we’ve had for the entire month of May and June.” Rockstad says the weather system was feast or famine, with some areas receiving too much rain. “I’m cautiously optimistic that the sugarbeets are poised to be a good crop.”
