Johnstown Bean Company General Manager Dylan Karley says field conditions are variable, brought on by the spotty rains. “There’s some spots with decent moisture, some spots that are dry, and even some spots that are too wet.” According to Karley, some wheat and barley fields are stressed, but dry beans have been in favor. Bean farmers planted ahead of schedule compared to last year and the yearly average.
