NDSU Extension Farm and Ranch Safety Coordinator Angie Johnson says reaching out to today’s youth about farm safety starts good habits from an early age. “Any opportunity where I can talk to young people about farm safety is important. It’s a mindset that’s transferrable to any job or occupation.” Johnson also had a hand in putting together curriculum for ag teachers or extension to use. “The Gearing Up for Safety Program is a national curriculum with 15 lessons on skid steers, tractors, livestock, PTOs, and more.”
