On a vote of 63 to 36 the U.S. Senate passed the wide-ranging debt ceiling bill Thursday evening. The legislation suspends the $31.4 trillion debt ceiling while cutting federal spending. The measure now goes to the White House for President Biden’s signature with just days to spare before the Monday deadline when the Treasury Department said the government would run out of money to pay its bills.
