Countryside Insurance Agency owner Jennifer Otteson says prevent plant acres should be lower than last year in the Red River Valley. That doesn’t mean there aren’t some wet spots. “As you go west out of the Valley and get more into the (Prairie) Pothole Region, there’s definitely going to be some spotty prevented planting.” Otteson reminds producers that it’s important to put in a notice of loss for each crop in each county with your insurance agent. Farmers have 72 hours from the final planting date to file a claim.
