South Dakota State University Extension Agronomist Jon Kleinjan says the central and southern parts of South Dakota are on the tail-end of planting. Northern South Dakota had a wet start to the season iand is just hitting its stride. Kleinjan reports winter wheat acres haven’t looked good this year. “There’s been a fair amount of abandonment. Since my tenure here, there’s going to be more winter wheat acres abandoned than I’ve ever seen.”
