According to the CME Group and Purdue University Ag Economy Barometer April Report, farmer sentiment has improved. Purdue Center for Commercial Agriculture Director Dr. James Mintert says several factors contributed to this month’s increase. “People were feeling better about their financial situation and a smaller percentage were expecting interest rates to rise over the next year.” While the barometer saw an increase, Mintert does not expect it to return to the higher levels we’ve seen in the last few years. The index increased six points to 123. At this time two years ago, the barometer was over 170. Listen to the full interview with Dr. James Mintert here.
