USDA has created a dozen new Regional Food Business Centers that will provide technical and financial assistance to strengthen the local and regional food system. The Region Five Development Commission is partnering with the Farmers Union organizations in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota to support and develop local food processing. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack also announced $420 million for the Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure Program.
