According to data from USDA Economic Research Service, the number of U.S. farms has continued to decline since 1982. In 2022, there were 2 million farms, down from 2.2 million in 2007. Farmland acreage also continues to decline with 893 million acres accounted for in 2022, down from 915 million just ten years earlier.
