While meeting with farm broadcasters in Washington, D.C., Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg addressed the supply chain issues that have impacted agriculture. “We’re able to do a lot because of the infrastructure improvements that we’re funding,” said Buttigieg. “Whether it’s the port improvements that are helping to take some of the pressure off of bottlenecked ports or things like truck parking, literally just helping add parking spaces.” Union workers at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach have been working without a contract since last July. Buttigieg said he has been in contact with the parties involved, urging them to find a solution.
