A new report indicates Canada is facing a significant shortage of farmers. The report was commissioned by the Royal Bank of Canada, the Boston Consulting Group Centre and the University of Guelph. It says more than 40 percent of Canadian farmers will retire over the next ten years. A policy analyst cited inflationary concerns, land affordability and succession planning as the big issues. Sixty-six percent of Canadian farmers do not have a succession plan in place.
