The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach have reopened after a 24-hour work stoppage late last week. The dockworkers have been working without a contract since last summer and were looking for leverage in the negotiations. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are the largest in the country, especially for containerized shipments.
