Drifts and snow piles remain but bare ground is starting to show in west central Minnesota. Elbow Lake farmer David Ehlers says there is surprisingly little frost which will hopefully keep things melting ahead of forecasted rains. “It’s looking pretty good actually. If we get the rain that’s coming this weekend, it’s going to be amazing how fast conditions change. I think the old man will get me in the tractor the first weekend in May.” Ehlers says a lot of snow in flatter areas blew away and soil temps will determine how soon they get in the field while moisture will impact speed once they get rolling.
