Members of the Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation are in Washington DC for their annual spring fly-in. While the top priority is the farm bill, Glessing says the CRP program is one area of concern. “CRP rates have been a concern of farmers and ranchers because they’re direct competition and actually raising rental rates in a lot of places. Now CRP is a good program and it’s designed for sensitive grounds, but we’ve been finding that it’s not being used that way. It’s getting put in prime farmland and that’s something that we’re a little worried about.”
