Soy Transportation Coalition Executive Director Mike Steenhoek said the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern merger is notable because it signals the first single line service from Canada, through the U.S. to Mexico. “Some people welcome the prospect of having more access to these markets and there are others that are concerned about the competition side of things.” Steenhoek said the Surface Transportation Board approved the merger because the two rail lines don’t really overlap and are very distinct from one another.
