The U.S. Surface Transportation Board has approved the proposed merger between Canadian Pacific Railway and the Kansas City Southern Railway allowing the two railroads to merge on or after April 14th. During a press conference STB Chair Martin Oberman said the merger was allowed because it will have a positive impact on the American economy and improve safety.
