R-Calf USA CEO Bill Bullard says the new ‘Product of the USA’ labeling proposition won’t have much of an impact on consumers or the beef industry because it’s a voluntary regime. “Only if a meat packer desires to affix a label, will there be one. Obviously, if that were profitable for the beef packers, they would have done it a long time ago.,” However, Bullard thinks it will be more beneficial for smaller meat processors to utilize the label.
