FFA cultivated a passion about agriculture education for Keith Olander. Now serving as AgCentric’s executive director, Olander’s years in the blue jacket were spent at Staples, Minnesota where he served in leadership at the chapter and regional level. FFA is a great way to experience new things with less financial commitment than you have later in life. During his years spent as an advisor, Olander drove that message home to his students. “I encouraged my students to try new things. At the high school level in FFA, you can try things really at no cost. You get a chance to say I’ll never do that again or you find things that you really love to do.” It’s important to not just be a member, but to really get involved. “Don’t just sit there. The more involvement you have, the more payoff it’ll have over your lifetime.” Listen to the interview.
