The Cattle Price Discovery and Transparency Act has been reintroduced in Congress. U.S. Cattlemen’s Association President Justin Tupper is happy to see the bill back on the table. “We’re disappointed it never made it to the floor during the last Congress and while this isn’t a fix-all-be-all fix, it puts us in the right direction for improving competition.” Even with the cattle cycle pointing to increased profitability, Topper said it remains important to keep markets transparent.
