USDA has launched the Cattle Contract Library Pilot Program. South Dakota Representative Dusty Johnson introduced the Cattle Contract Library Act in 2021 and called the program “a step in the right direction to improve our cattle market and transparency for producers”. The program will allow producers to view price components of cattle contracts, giving them more information while protecting confidential information of the contract holders. The library is set to go live on February 6, 2023.
