The wheels are turning toward a bison export market in Japan. American Bison Association Executive Director Jim Mathison says members of their organization have been exploring the possibility and the first steps are being taken to make it a reality. “We’re trying to show both the U.S. government and Japan that there is significant demand for bison in Japan.” Representatives from Japan recently took a tour of a bison processing facility. The ABA is working with USDA to make it possible to export bison meat to Japan.
