At the Clay County Crop Update Meeting, Extension Sugarbeet Specialist Tom Peters focused on preventing Palmer amaranth. “Palmer robs yield and is hard to control so wWe want farmers to prevent Palmer amaranth from getting established.” Peters is more worried about Palmer amaranth than waterhemp in Clay County. “Palmer amaranth grows so big, it tends to crowd sugarbeets out.” Peters has a joint assignment with NDSU and the University of Minnesota.
