National Potato Council CEO Kam Quarles says Canada’s government has answered potato wart concerns regarding potato imports from Canada’s Prince Edward Island. “They made it very clear that they’re working to modernize testing.” Quarles expects USDA to adjust protocols to mitigate risk on imported potatoes. “USDA identified the breadth of potato wart if these enhancements didn’t occur, so we’re hopeful that they’ll mitigate that risk.”
