The South Dakota legislative session starts Tuesday. South Dakota Farmers Union lobbyist Mitch Richter expects the budget to take priority. “We still have several million dollars left over from COVID money, there’s a lot of one-time money and a lot of money that came in above the revenue estimate.” SDFU will also keep an eye on property rights. “We’re always watchful for landowner right issues like the pipeline companies and eminent domain that may come into play. We haven’t seen any bills yet.”
