NDSU Extension hosted the annual Getting It Right webinar featuring research-based production information. NDSU Soil Specialist Dave Franzen highlighted the cause of interveinal chlorosis in soybeans in the Red River Valley. “The only cause of this condition is the presence of carbonates in the soil and if you have a zone sample that shows a pH of 7 or above, you have carbonates.” said Franzen. “Variety selection is extremely important.” Franzen also said that the right iron fertilizer, using a companion crop at planting, or wider rows can help mitigate the issue.
