Incoming North Dakota House Agriculture Committee Chair Paul Thomas sees the addition of more soy crush facilities could open the door to animal agriculture in the state. “There’s going to be more meal available for animal feed.” Thomas is seeing more interest in this issue. “People are meeting with commodity groups, industry leaders and legislators trying to identify barriers; they’ve ranged anywhere from zoning issues, community acceptance issues, and lack of capital.”
