There’s currently a 50-50 split in the Senate and a narrowly-divided House. National Potato Council CEO Kam Quarles says the midterm election could change the majority in both chambers. “As we head into 2023, there will be an entirely new Congress and that will characterize what the challenges may be in putting together a new farm bill, the various spending bills and is it still possible to get to an ag labor reform agreement.” Whatever happens with the election, the farm bill still expires in 2023. “Our job is to givel them the absolute best advice on how to move our industry forward.”
