Wimbledon, North Dakota farmer Mike Clemens broke into his soybeans this past week and was pleasantly surprised. “Of course, the first field you start harvest on is the one that dried out the fastest so you aren’t typically happy with it, but we were very surprised when we got into it.” Despite not seeing much moisture since early July, Clemens has high hopes for his corn crop. “The corn looks pretty good, but we did have a little rain shower that came through in mid-August that put the top end on the corn. I don’t know if it’s the new varieties but the corn really hung in there and I think we’re going to get at least average yields.”
