Golden Harvest agronomist Adam Aarestad has seen a few corn fields hitting black layer. “Once you hit black layer, you lose about three quarters of a percent a day down to 25 percent moisture. From there on moisture loss is a bit slower.” Aarestad, who is based at Fargo, said most of the corn harvest is still a few weeks out.
