In USDA’s Small Grains Summary, U.S. wheat production was estimated at 1.65 billion bushels, an increase of one percent from last year. The area harvested for grain is at 35.5 million acres, down four percent from the previous year. Winter wheat production totals 1.1 billion bushels, down 14 percent from last year. Other spring wheat at 482 million bushels, an increase of 46 percent from last year. Durum wheat is at 64 million bushels, up 70 percent from last year. U.S. barley production is estimated at 174 million bushels, up from the revised 2021 total.
