The harvest has started on the early-seeded spring wheat fields in northwest Minnesota. University of Minnesota Extension Small Grains Specialist Jochum Wiersma says the early yields are surprising. “The USDA predicted 56 bushels per acre (average) for Minnesota, but I think we’re going to exceed that,” said Wiersma. “In some individual fields, there are yields over 80.”
