The next farm bill is coming into focus. South Dakota Representative Dusty Johnson says it will be important to build in flexibilities for the American farmer and ranchers for the next six years. “I wonder if there are tweaks we can make in the farm bill to make ad-hoc relief less likely,” said Johnson. “It never gets done on time and it’s always a big political shouting match.” During a Dakotafest panel discussion, Johnson also cited the need to update reference prices.
