Herreid Livestock Auction had their first sale with cattle coming off of this year’s grass one week ago. Herreid Livestock owner Kent Fjeldheim says the market looks strong. “We had about 2,500 head come through right off of grass. We had 900 pound steers up to $185 and some 870 pound steers up to $190.” Fjeldheim expects there to be a smaller run this fall. “There’s definitely going to be less cattle to handle this year. I just think we’re going into a few years where we’re going to have some really good markets.”
