Near Thompson, North Dakota, Tim Myron says the fresh red and yellow potatoes are catching up from the late planting season. It’s getting dry in fields with potatoes in the middle of tuber bulking. “They’re adding weight. Disease hasn’t been bad and maybe we’ll get rain before September begins.” Conditions this growing season are much better for the farm compared to last year. “We had warm weather, but it wasn’t days over 100 degrees like last year. We couldn’t wait for it to stop raining this spring, but actually, the way it worked out is probably okay.”
