Minnesota Senator Tina Smith says the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 is a big deal for agriculture. “There are big investments in domestic energy production, new resources for advanced biofuels and infrastructure,” said Smith. There is also money to support climate smart agriculture. “That additional funding for the conservation programs is going to be a big deal when we look at writing the farm bill next year. It basically raises the floor for the dollars we’ll have to spend.” Lawmakers plan to vote on the legislation before leaving for the August recess.
