The sugarbeet crop is growing well. Extension Sugarbeet Agronomist Tom Peters says the crop is progressing quickly. “We worried a lot about being behind schedule, because we gave up two to four weeks at planting time. We haven’t recovered all of the lost time, but we’ve recovered time in the last week to 10 days. It’s common to see row closure in many areas.” While some sugarbeets still have not closed rows yet, attention is turning to escape weeds and cercospora control. “We’re at the end of the spray season. There are still some escape weeds and waterhemp is one of them. We’ve been using Ultra Blazer and working on escape weeds.”
