Winter wheat harvest is fast approaching in the Northern Plains. “We’re starting to see some fields very well turned, a nice golden color,” said Reid Christopherson, executive director, South Dakota Wheat Commission.. “At least in the south-central portions of the state, the crop looks exceptional. We’re watching the skies. Mother Nature has the final vote.” Winter wheat acreage is up slightly in South Dakota from previous years.
