North Dakota State University agricultural economist Bill Wilson expects the 2022 Ukrainian crop to be half the size of one year ago. From that, Wilson believes 30-to-40 percent of that ground won’t be planted next year. This dispute is not expected to end soon. “I’d venture a guess this is a four or five year phenomenon because there is a lot of stuff that has to be rebuilt whenever the war ends.” Wilson said Ukraine’s ability to export will be hampered until operations resume fully at the Port of Odessa.
