The Federal Reserve has increased interest rates three-quarters of a percentage point. Federal Reserve Board Chair Jerome Powell says ongoing increases in the rate are anticipated. “Clearly, a 75 basis point increase is an unusually large one; I do not expect moves of this size to be common.” Powell said a 50 or 75 basis point increase seems most likely at next month’s Fed meeting.
