Canadian farmers are expected to increase wheat and durum acres while reducing barley and canola acres from last year. Statistics Canada’s planting intentions report says farmers intend to plant 20.9 million acres of canola. That is down seven percent from last year and below trade expectations. All wheat acres are expected to be 25 million, seven percent more than last year and above the highest trade guess. Durum acres are expected to increase 12 percent to 6.2 million acres. Barley acres are forecast to be down nine percent year-over-year to 7.5 million.
