After 25 years away from a leadership role, the 1996-1997 state officer team led the opening ceremonies for Tuesday night’s general session at the Minnesota FFA Convention. “I can trace so many really important friendships, relationships and experiences that set me up for success back to FFA and my involvement in high school,” said Laura (Klein) Richardson, who was president 25 years ago. “I currently live in Wasilla, Alaska, moving there in 2001 after graduating from college.” Richardson is an elementary school teacher and has worked in school administration. Aaron Stegemann was the state FFA vice president 25 years ago. After time at John Deere, Stegemann is now the vice president of commercial utility vehicles for Polaris in Minneapolis. The former Lakefield student credits the FFA for much of his success. “I lead a pretty large team so being able to interact and empower them to be successful and also drive them to go achieve a goal is attributed to what I learned while I was in the FFA.”
