Governor Tim Walz said Minnesota is strong and moving forward. With less than one month left in the legislative session, Walz emphasized the need to find common ground on the budget surplus. Walz would like to cut taxes for the middle class without cutting taxes for corporations. “Folks need a little extra in their pocket right now. Let’s come together in a compromise and see if we can maybe get immediate relief.” It may not be an easy thing to accomplish in a divided legislature and lawmakers are not obligated to make a decision on how to spend the surplus before adjournment.
